MARRIAGE
“The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.” (CCC 1601)
For you to get married in one of our churches, you need to satisfy the following conditions:
If all the above conditions are met, then you can arrange a date, by telephoning the office on 01752 361161 or emailing us on [email protected] giving a clear six months notice.
If you do not live in the Holy Trinity Parish (comprising St Budeaux, Keyham and Beacon Park) then you will need permission from your own parish priest, who may decide he needs to see you as well.
You will also need to visit Plymouth Register Office, since the civil authorities require notice of marriage to be give.
Fees:
- You must both be free to marry (i.e., neither of you should have been married before)
- One of you must be a baptised Roman Catholic.
- You must be prepared to attend a marriage preparation course.
- You must both see marriage as a lifelong commitment, and be open to the possibility of children.

- Organist £75
- Authorised Person (Civil registers) £10
- Priest’s donation at couple’s discretion – it is customary, but not obligatory to off him something.
- A choir can also be arranged, again, a donation is customary.
