Did you know…….

that CAFOD started in 1960 when a small group of mums in England organised a Family Fast Day for a mother and baby healthcare programme on the island of Dominica?  The ladies hoped to raise £500 but actually collected over £6,000  –  that’s £100,000 in today’s money!  Solidarity continues to be one of CAFOD’s strengths today.

Secular Clergy Fund collection will  take place this weekend.

"How should we pray, Lord?” Jesus' disciples ask him.  He gives them the Lord’s prayer. At its most basic, the request in the prayer is that the Holy Spirit transform the world – that the world become his kingdom – his dominion over which he reigns. When we are part of that, we know we are part of something fantastic, something great and good, that no matter what we suffer and struggle with, the victory is already ours. It is a victory of love over fear and despair.

So we should ask for God to transform the world into his Kingdom. He will do this by using us, the Church and all Christians, by allowing us to work for him, as his instruments, as his agents in the world. We should ask God to give meaning to our lives by giving us all that we need to make the person of Jesus real to us, so that we can make him real to others. We should ask God to give us the Holy Spirit."
